摘要

It's often said that shipping is the most global of all the industries, and this financi al crisis has underlined just how inter-dependent the world's economies - and the maritime services that link them - have become. The sub-prime tsunami continues to roll across the lowlands of corporate life, claiming fresh victims. Among the many sad stories over the past week is news that container manufacturers in China and elsewhere in the Asia Pacific region are struggling to move boxes out of stock yards. As US consumers keep cash in their wallets, west coast shippers trim their orders, Asian lines pick up fewer boxes, container lessors conduct less business - and manufacturers worry. They are not the only worriers.
