In the past decade, ship management offices in the UAE have progressed from being little more than local agencies to full-service operations. And if the regional authorities have their way, this will continue until - some believe - Dubai in particular becomes a ship management hub to rival Cyprus. The Dubai Maritime City (see p30) is expected to lead this trend. DMC is designed to lure shipping companies from across the globe to share a reclaimed peninsula between Dubai Dry Docks and Port Rashid.
