The US coast Guard is facing a court battle over its allowances for foreign refit work on single-hull Jones Act tankers.rnLast week, Crowley Maritime, Overseas Shipholding and the Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA) filed suit against the Coast Guard and its National Vessel Documentation Centre (NVDC)rnin the US District Court of Eastern Virginia. The case focuses on the NVDC's approval of Seabulk Trader for US coastal service, even though the vessel had been refitted in China to become a double-sided ship.
