Steel is having another strong year - as if we didn't know that already. But the International Iron & Steel Institute is trying to ensure that it gets its message across.rnSteel use will rise this year just a few I-beams away from 1.2Bn tonnes, from more than 1.1 Bn tonnes in 2006. The actual difference is more thanrn75M tonnes - enough to fill more than 2,000 Handysize bulkers.The percentage rise is nearly 7%. A similar increase is expected next year.
