Oil prices, affected by the situation in northern Iraq, have reached record levels. Combined with the weakness of the dollar, tension on the Turkish-Iraqi border has led to much speculative purchasing activity.rnEven so, there appears to be a contradiction in current prices.rnLast week's report from Poten & Partners, a New York broker, reads:"A jump in prices, as the result of political tensions,would be logical if there was an imminent supply crunch in the future. The opposite conditions appear to be present."
