Hit by soaring bunker fuel costs, the world's third-largest box operator, CMA CGM, is facing the need to find new capacity after adopting a slower-ship speed policy. "Now that we have taken the decision to slow the speed of ship on loops between Asia and Europe, the next question is how to fill the loops with further ships," said Nicolas Sartini, director of CMA CGM's Asia-Europe line. Sartini told Fairplay that he thinks the need for ships would absorb a high proportion of vessels already ordered.
