SIR, There are two things I can be certain of whenever I order "slow astern" on the engine. One is a requirement to change my uniform shirt and the other is a violent bout of coughing as the thick black smog of funnel emission decends upon the bridge wing. As a seafarer, should I be worried what funnel emissions are doing to me? Certainly, uniform shirts are getting more expensive all the time!
