Clarkson's started the ball rolling back in mid-June when it graded down its newbuilding prices for the first time since 9/11. But South Korea still has been in denial for months. Yard spokesmen from the major operations there were adamant that prices could rise even more. Until last week, they were very keen to point out any examples of contracts worth more than the average price to prove their point.
