Reports that China has been seeking to cap the price it is prepared to pay for Australian and Brazilian iron ore has caused a stir in the run-up to annual price talks. There was even some suggestion earlier this month that China might prevent shipments from unloading if the ore price exceeded a cap of $54 a tonne, the price agreed last year.
