South America's grain export trade has been the mainstay of the Atlantic Panamax market this week, helping to compensate for limited activity in the Mississippi River region and in the Atlantic But, from an owner's perspective, it was the only positive thing about Panamaxes, because rates started sliding in the Pacific and, according to brokers, look set to continue in that direction. Too many ships in the Asia Pacific rim are chasing too few cargoes.
