Before July's G-8 conference, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper told the Canada-UK Chamber of Commerce that Canada is emerging as an "energy super-power." He pointed to western Canada's huge oil sands tracts, hydroelectric generation, uranium production and natural gas. But Harper could also have included other commodities of interest to the shipping industry: coal, bio-diesel, LNG and wood pellets.
