Buyers and sellers are living in the past, a Norwegian sale and purchase broker comments to Fairplay this week. The distance between the price that buyers are willing to pay and the price at which sellers are willing to sell is widening. Buyers are gazing upon a falling market in all sectors. Optimistic sellers still view a high market that just might rebound. Maybe. There are exceptions. Owners of older vessels such as single-skin tankers or older bulk carriers, with only a few years of trading left in them, can be sold quite easily - and for surprisingly high prices. For modern VLCCs and smaller tankers and for modern Capes and smaller bulkers, the market is difficult.
