摘要

Homegrown container operator Pacific International Lines is re-entering routes it served in its days as a break-bulk operator. Armed with a fleet of almost 100 ships, of which 65 are owned, PIL will shortly be introducing a service to the east coast of South America in conjunction with Japan's MOL. Last year PIL, whose traditional strength has been the China/Middle East, intra-Asia and Australia/Southeast Asia trades, returned to Europe, teaming up with Taiwan's Wan Hai Lines. Early this year PIL also tied up with CP Ships for Vancouver. The merging together of services could result in saving one ship in terms of deployment on the route, MD Teo Siong Seng explained to Fairplay.
