On 16 August, the eleven-member Panama Canal board of directors unanimously re-appointed Alberto Aleman Zubieta to a second seven-year term as administrator. During his second tenure which will run until 2012, Aleman will have the difficult task of implementing the canal expansion plan, "which is going well"and expected to be released soon, he told foreign reporters in a conference call.
