摘要

After severe pre-Christmas congestion in 2004, the coast looks clearer this fall for Caribbean shipping. The forecast could always change for the worse, but the measures to limit crowding seem to be taking hold. Caribbean jams centred during the last peak season in the hubs at Kingston, Jamaica, and Port of Spain, Trinidad. A Fairplay survey of shipping executives, agents, port operators and association heads found opinion near unanimous for this year: for the moment, at least, operations are running more smoothly. "We learned a lot of lessons last year, and I think we've become much smarter about the way we do things," Peter Ford, GM at APM Terminals (Jamaica), tells Fairplay.
