Three Suezmax tankers built by Harland and Wolff in Belfast in the 1990s have been sold by First Olsen to TOP tankers. The double-hull Knock Dun, Knock Clune and the Knock Muir a re reported sold for $177M en-bloc. Now is a good time to own Suezmax tankers. The additional crude oil imports into the US have boosted the Atlantic market considerably in recent weeks. A130,000dwt West Africa to USAC voyage now stands at a rate in excess of W200, the timecharter equivalent approaching $60,000 per day. These longer voyages have reduced the tonnage supply in the Med and in North-West Europe to the extent that rates have risen above W200 in these loading areas, too.
