Its flotation means that Bergesen Worldwide Gas has taken a big step towards a goal it set before being acquired in 2003 by the Sohmen-Pao family. BWG wanted to make both its earnings and share price more predictable than had been the case for the old VLCC, Capesize dry bulker and LPG operator that had been known more simply as Bergesen. The company has long been looking for a fourth leg for its business that would not suffer from the high volatility typical of bulk trades.
