London City lawyers have been slammed by Dutch lawyer Marcel Verhagen, a board member of Tamara (Transport and Maritime Arbitration Rotterdam Amsterdam), for being costly, slow and wasteful. Litigating in London comes a poor second to arbitrating in, say, Amsterdam, he says. "In transport practice, arbitration is a better way to settle a dispute than to institute proceedings," he tells Fairplay.
