Balancing security against commerce is a difficult challenge but one embraced by the man charged with keeping both ships on course. In an exclusive interview with Fairplay, US Commissioner of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Robert Bonner describes the new and expanded role being played by the 42,000 workers he supervises. The lawyer, ex-federal judge and former head of the Drug Enforcement Administration says his goals remain driven by the events of 9/11, but with one enormous caveat.
