Viewed in isolation, the US Energy Information Administration's International Energy Outlook 2004 - an industry benchmark - promises the biggest boom for tanker operators since the 1960s. Crude oil consumption is forecast to increase by an average 1.9% a year through 2025, to 121M barrels per day (bpd), with long-haul trades accounting for most incremental tonnage miles. London's brokering community broadly agrees with those predictions.
