Hyundai Heavy Industries had 117 ships of 7.2M GT on its order book as of the end of November, valued at $5.22Bn - making it by far the most successful shipbuilder in the world. Main ship types are 55 tankers, 29 container ships, six bulkers and seven LNG carriers. HHI also confirmed that it picked up four tankers, one product carrier and a "special ship" during November. HHI expects ship prices to improve thanks to stricter regulations on single-hull tankers. If the EU prohibits single-hull tankers over 15 years old from sailing in EU waters by 2010, and other measures are taken up, replacement tanker ordering will be brisk.
