A recent move by Egypt's port workers to stop handling goods carried by Israeli ships, in solidarity with the Palestinians has prompted activists to call on their Jordanian counterparts at Aqaba to follow suit. At a meeting in Benghazi, Libya in December 2002, the Arab Bar Union, which groups all Arab bar associations, applauded what the Egyptian ports workers had done. Egyptian maritime transport officials have been quoted in news reports as saying that the Israel Navigation Co (Zim) has completely stopped its operations in three Egyptian ports: Alexandria, Port Said and Damietta.
