Another dork cloud was cast on the integrity of the country's certification system when some of the results in last June's marine licensure exams were annulled. The scandal has implicated an examiner of the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC), prompting the industry to call for changes to the method of written examinations to protect the country's future as the world's top supplier of seafarers. "The integrity of examination, conducted and maintained in its highest standard will result in a higher competence and better confidence of our deck officers as they perform their shipboard tasks," says a declaration by the Master and Mates Association of the Philippines (MMAP).
