Europe's ship owners converged in Brussels last week to host a three-day exhibition highlighting the integral role that shipping plays in world trade. Organised by the European Community Shipowners' Association (ECSA) in association with the current Greek presidency of the Commission, it represented a unified attempt to publicise the positive side of shipping to a wider audience. However, behind the scenes it has become clear that the Commission, the ship owners and the European Parliament are not seeing eye to eye on a number of issues.
