Was it the patience of Job that the Ofer brothers showed while waiting for the Israeli government sell them its share of Zim, or has their Asian market experience taught them Confucian forbearance? Because this is the deal they have waited years for, and they are going to buy. When the government salesman checked his mail on 30 November, there was but one envelope containing an expression of interest in the 48.6% of Zim Navigation owned by the Israeli taxpayer. It was from Israel Corp, the holding company controlled by the Ofer Brothers Group, which already owns 48.9% of Zim. The few shares not owned by Israel Corp or the state are held by a dozen other investors.
