Last year's few VLCC sales were dominated by the smaller, less desirable sub two-million barrel ships emanating from Japan. K-Line's 1987-built VLCC Isuzugawa Maru will therefore spark a feeling of deja vu among owners and brokers. Being single-skinned and only 247,392 DWT, it is below the preferred size and specification for charterers, but these types have come on the market mainly because of heavy ordering by the Japanese as a result of pres- sures to renew VLCC fleets with double hulls.
