The International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) should strengthen its role as the voice of the classification societies at an international level and the shipping industry as a whole should acknowledge the need for greater transparency in safety related matters. That is the opinion of Rolf Westfal-Larsen, the Bergen-based ship owner who is president of the International Shipping Federation and chairman of the International Chamber of Shipping.
