Australian companies have increased their global profile over the past year, the biggest example being the $28Bn merger of BHP with Billiton announced in March. That merger led to a decision to relocate the giant resource company's chartering and sea freight operations to The Hague and to shift its ship management to a new joint venture with Teekay Shipping.
