Brazil's long-running 'dredging war' looks set to reach a crucial turning point in the near future, as the government decides whether to allow the permanent import of an elderly foreign dredger.rnAt stake is the future shape of an industry that serves no less than 27 commercial ports, and in particular whether it should be open to foreign competition or reserved for local companies. As always, the 'home side's' accent is on local investment, employment and patriotism, while the 'foreign side' claims that a liberalised market will mean lower prices for customers - and a better service.
