It was bound to happen, and now it has: an on-line Internet market place linking shippers of containerised cargo with service providers - lines, NVOCCs and forwarders. Launched last November, GoCargo.com has, within four months, attracted sufficient enquiry to achieve some 200 active on-site auctions at any one time. But how does it work? Taking advantage of an extended coffee break at last week's Containerisation International conference in London, Robert M Magown, GoCargo's vice president of sales and marketing, showed me. "The genie is out of the lamp as you can see," he said, introducing me to his mysterious blue- eyed assistant. But 'your wish is my command' is Robert's line. Dealing with bids is his business.
