Speculation persists that one of Ita-ly's specialist fruit terminals is to find a foreign buyer and that heading the list is Antwerp's Noordnatie. Leghorn's Dole Term, a specialist banana terminal, has been suffering from lower cargo throughput than planned since its inception in 1996. Stiff competition from Orsero's reefer terminal at Savona-Vado and the TFG (Terminal Frutto Genoa) - part of the Clerici Logistics Group - is the key problem, so much so that Dole confirms it has been negotiating this year for a white knight to take over its Italian fruit terminal operation. However, it is unclear when a deal will be reached.
