Reforms are still possible the London insurance market's Hull Claims Protocol of 1997, according to Michael Harvey, a fellow of the Association of Average Adjusters. Speaking to a seminar last week organised by the association for its members, he said: "I do not believe that the door is closed, it is just not as open as it was." The protocol was drafted to make claims handling more efficient and speedy, and Harvey said that the reforms would benefit ship owners and underwriters alike, although they have not found favour with ship owners.
