摘要

As pointed out Parts I and II of this series[Fire Engineers Journal, 57, 188(36-42)' 57, 190(32-88)], a computer-based IT system is only as good as the hardware and software that it contains, even if the database reference data is of unimpeachable quality. In this part specific implementation issues affecting the database software are discussed in detail. In particular, the capabilities of modern relational SQL databases are described, as well as the way in which these Capabilities may be used to retrieve operationally relevant information extremely rapidly.
