I'm writing this from the floor of the TMC Trade Show. It's a big show to go with the wide variety of educational seminars and committee meetings typical of TMC. There's the usual excitement and, for those of us who just managed to get out of the Northeast between snowstorms, a chance to catch up with old friends. Listening to some of the conversation, it's clear that optimism is the order of the day. The dismal economic conditions have given rise to a renewed sense of purpose and a general feeling that the worst is probably over, but the recovery is going to be challenging. While the business outlook is cautiously positive, there's another area of concern that threatens the very future of the industry-the supply of qualified entry-level technicians.
