Fleets make much more of an effort to monitor any ex-tended engine oil change interval than extended chassis lube interval―and perhaps rightly so as engine oil protects the most expensive component on a truck. But the experienced fleet manager is also concerned with extending greasing intervals to ensure the longest, most effective life for a quality grease. In fact, many fleets are extending grease service intervals to match their engine oil drains, which lowers maintenance costs and vehicle downtime. This is becoming more feasible with the formulations of the new chassis greases available. While chassis grease is not as "attention getting" or "attention demanding" as engine, transmission or gear oils, it is,equally important considering the job it has to do.
