Safer Corporation announces the commercial availability of the Vigia Automatic Tire Pressure (ATP) system to the U. S. transportation industry. Unlike other ATP systems, Vigia (Spanish for Sentry or Guardian) has the ability to be installed on solid axels, thereby allowing it to be used on trucks, buses and RV's as well as trailers. The first Vigia system was installed in Argentina in 1978, making it a popular and widely used system, especially in Europe, Central and South America and Australia. Currently more than 250,000 systems are installed on vehicles worldwide.
