摘要

Southeast Asia has, in recent times, been seen as something of a growth engine for the air transport industry. Orders from the likes of AirAsia, Lion Air and others in the region have contributed to record narrowbody backlogs at the big two airframers. However, there appears to be growing evidence that the region's airlines, while not having second thoughts exactly, are at least re-evaluating the timing and pace of those new aircraft handovers. AirAsia has recendy deferred 19 aircraft that were due for delivery over the next two years and will sell some other A320s this year. Jet-star Asia, with a fleet of 17 A320s, has also put its growth plans on hold amid what major shareholder Qantas describes as intense competition in Southeast Asia.
