Embraer has its share of long-serving employees but few have witnessed the journey from small state-run manufacturer battling to establish itself in lucrative overseas markets to the global player it is today as intentiy as Luis Carlos Affonso. The company's veteran vice-president corporate strategy, innovation and digital has been with Embraer for 37 of its 50 years, joining as an engineer. Since then he has held more than half a dozen senior management positions and played a crucial role in bringing to market many of Embraer's breakthrough programmes.
