E-flite's PT-19 is a brand new breed of battery-powered, medium-size, near-scale ARF model, one that easily becomes a fine looking, fine flying R/C warbird-or a fine looking, good flying scale C/L park warbird-or both! The PT-19 is a genuine Primary Trainer warbird; nearly 5,000 were designed and built by Fairchild Aircraft, based in Hagerstown, Maryland, for that role. (Other manufacturers in the U.S. and Canada also built versions of the plane.) It was chosen in 1939 by the Army Air Force as a low-wing monoplane trainer that, compared with biplane trainers like the PT-17 Stear-man, would more closely approximate the configuration and flight characteristics of the fighter aircraft of the day (the Curtiss P-40).
