I love your statement, "The go-around must be recognized as a normal segment of any flight, despite the fact that it is not used on each and every trip ["The Go-Around," December 2016]." I'm an instructor pilot for an organization that operates over 100 aircraft in nearly 30 countries around the world. In this very unforgiving environment (where unimproved and uncontrolled airstrips are the norm) the requirement for a "stable approach," good decision-making and the ability to execute a go-around are critical.
