Do you remember the Liberty XL-2? It is a two-seat airplane constructed of carbon fiber materials, and it became the first piston airplane to be certified with full-authority digital engine control in 2004. There has been very little news about the airplane in the past several years, but that is about to change because a company called Discovery Aviation has taken over the XL-2 type certificate.
