BendixKing arrived at EAA AirVenture with the surprise news of a flat-panel retrofit cockpit for turbine airplanes, the fresh certification of its KSN 770 touch-screen GPS navigator and pricing for its new Inmarsat-based in-flight Internet service. The Honeywell business unit kicked things off in Oshkosh with the introduction of AeroVue, a flat-panel retrofit avionics solution that is coming first to the King Air 200. According to BendixKing, the system will cost around $100,000 less than the competition, which presumably is the Garmin G1000 retrofit system. AeroVue is based on Apex, which is standard equipment in the Pilatus PC-12 and itself shares some commonality with the Honeywell Primus Epic avionics in large bizjets. STC certification of AeroVue is expected in the first half of 2015.
