After 23 short-term extensions and more than five years, the FAA finally has a new long-term reauthorization package that provides the funding necessary to keep the agency operating for the next four years. The $63.4 billion bill, approved by Congress and signed by President Barack Obama in February, provides additional funding for the NextGen air transportation modernization program as expected, but it also earmarks money in areas that have raised some eyebrows.
