I couldn't agree more with tom Benenson's "Those Who Can't Teach?" (Airwork, March). The present system of instructing serving as a stepping stone to an eventual berth on an airline often does a great disservice to the student. I believe that the student deserves an instructor who has flown in the clouds, handled cockpit emergencies, scared themselves a few times and has more than the minimum hours in their logbook.
