I wrote a story about light airplanes, ice, and ice protection gear in the January 2006 issue. In it I mentioned Cessna Caravans, which fly with equipment that is approved for flight in icing conditions. Six of these airplanes had been lost in ice-related accidents at the time the research was done for that story. Since then, three more have been lost in this type of accident. As you might imagine, this has caused a great flutter among the safety mavens employed by our and other governments.
