Piper's single-engine PiperJet made its first flight recently from the company's Vero Beach headquarters with Piper test pilots Dave Schwartz and Buddy Sessoms at the controls. Like most inaugural flights, the PiperJet's hour-long foray was a basic exploration of the airplane's handling, with the gear left down for the duration of the flight. The maximum speed during the flight was 160 knots and max altitude was 10,000 feet. The airplane made its one landing back at Vero Beach (KVRB). The pilots reported that handling was good and the sound levels were very quiet.
