摘要

When Ken Goldsmith spotted "N102AF" in a photc of a Cessna CJ, he sensed a connection between the CJ and his first jet. That jet was a delta-wing fighter Ken had left behind in Vietnam 30 years earlier, but the link was unmistakable... at least to Ken. So what else could he do? He bought the CJ. Back in 1973, the Vietnam War was winding down and a lot of military pilots were about to be out of work. "Thousands of guys were on the street looking for airline jobs," Ken remembers. "The Guard units were full. And the Air Force was saying, 'You've had your time in the cockpit. You're going to fly a desk.' That was of no interest to me. It was all about flying. All about having a mission." So, he hung up his flight suit to help run a start-up company in the healthcare field. Just like that, Ken Goldsmith was out of the flying business... as much as any pilot ever really leaves flying. Ken says, "If you're somebody who was meant to be a pilot, you always picture yourself as a pilot first and everything else second. It's not an occupation: it's an attitude." Soon, he started itching to get back into aviation.
