A new version of the Raisbeck EPIC modification can increase the maximum takeoff weight of most King Air C90 turboprops to 10,500 pounds. That is an 850-pound weight increase for C90s serial number 527 through 1137, and at least a 400-pound increase for newer models. The new certified takeoff weight comes with little empty weight increase so nearly all of the benefit translates into payload. A key element in the mod is a change to 93-inch diameter Raisbeck/Hartzell Quiet Turbofan Propellers, which increase thrust and reduce external and cabin noise both on takeoff and during cruise with a new 1750 rpm setting. The extra thrust from the new propellers accommodates the higher weights and allows use of even shorter takeoff runways. The other key element in the mod package is installation of Raisbeck Dual Aft Body Strakes that reduce drag and add yaw stability.
