On my travels in Europe last year to attend various medical conferences, I saw these two spectacularly positioned Lockheed F-104 Starfighters. I have a special interest in US fighters of the 1950s and '60s, so 1 was keen to photograph them. The first is a former Greek Air Force machine that now sits outside the Athens War Museum along with other notable Cold War fighters, while the second is the 'gate guard' at Kjeller, a Royal Norwegian Air Force (RNoAF) base just outside Oslo. This aircraft first served the RCAF between 1962 and 1970, and then the RNoAF between 1973 and 1982. I will be on the lookout for further examples in the future.
