Efforts to return a de Havilland Mosquito to UK skies gathered pace in 2020, despite COVID-19 lockdown restrictions. The People's Mosquito charity has placed orders for aircraft-grade Sitka Spruce sourced from British Columbia in Canada, the same region used to supply wood for original Mosquito production. Construction of the aircraft will be handled by East Sussex-based Retrotec Ltd, starting with the building of the first fuselage bulkheads. The charity is harnessing its cache of more than 22,000 original Mosquito drawings, along with Retrotec's expertise, to deliver the highest standards of authenticity.
